As part of a guided tour through the impressive area of the former SBB railway repair facility in Zurich-Altstetten, we were able to take a look over the shoulders of Denkstatt sàrl. On behalf of SBB Immobilien, they developed a long-term transformation strategy with sensitivity.

The political framework Werkplatz Zürich set the direction: the future use should be geared towards manufacturing, urban industries. Some of the historic SBB buildings have already been put to new uses – a lively dialogue between past and future.

The visit gave us new ideas for our work in the context of Clever Cities; how needs and potentials can be identified with the future users, a future-oriented district designed and the existing buildings successfully transformed. A big thank you to Denkstatt sàrl for the tour!
