Living South: Wood Construction with Speed and Precision

What was prepared during the winter months in the wood construction company’s factory halls is now shooting up at lightning speed: the three buildings of the Living South project on the Medicine Campus Davos.

Last fall, the wood construction elements were prefabricated, temporarily stored, and are now being delivered to the construction site bit by bit, right on schedule.

For the largest of the three buildings in the Living South project, one floor has been erected every week since the end of May. By the end of June, the timber structure was already fully erected.

Assembly of the second building begins this week. Due to the smaller floor plans, the pace for this building and the third one will be even faster, allowing for the construction of up to two floors per week.

This is where the strengths of timber system construction really shine: prefabrication at the factory, precise planning, and close coordination among all parties involved ensure high quality, efficient processes, and short construction times—a construction process in which every element arrives at the right place at the right time.
