In the competition for the extension of the east wing of the Weingarten retirement and nursing home in the Olten civic community, we came second with our vision of a timber construction. The task included a two-storey extension and earthquake protection.

Compared to concrete construction projects, this can save up to 62% CO2 equivalent emissions. In addition, the operating energy can be minimised thanks to a well-insulated shell and, thanks to the photovoltaic system on the roof, part of the electrical energy requirement can be covered.

The extension follows the clear structure of the existing building, offers spacious communal areas and natural materials, a harmonious façade design and a pleasant living environment.
