“Josef will wohnen” (Josef wants to live) has given rise to a political demand from several political groups. It is a reaction to the counter-proposal to the City of Zurich’s development concept for the Josef site in Zurich West.

Zurich politicians are responding with a motion submitted by the SP, AL, Grüne, GLP and Mitte/EVP, which aims to encourage a rethink and examine the urban development opportunities for a well-mixed development. In addition to the previously planned uses, non-profit flats and commercial premises with sufficient green and open spaces should also be considered.

The city council is now being instructed to submit a partial revision of the building and zoning regulations for the Josef site to the municipal council. This is the only way to create a well-mixed neighbourhood that meets the requirements of modern urban planning.
