Living South Medicine Campus Davos, Davos
Diversity in the housing mix as the key to meeting a wide range of living needs: With three new timber-frame residential buildings, OOS is creating living space on the Medicine Campus Davos that has been designed equally for staff, patients, and visitors.
The housing situation on the Medicine Campus Davos and in the surrounding village became increasingly acute. The growing demand for housing for campus users put pressure on existing residential capacity. A comprehensive vision was developed that takes into account the needs of the clinic and the general housing market.
An essential part of the vision is the flexible use of the building complex in the immediate vicinity of the clinic. This will be realized as staff accommodation and can also be used by visitors. The flexibility allows for further changes of use in the future. The architecture is characterized by hotel-like studios: compact and simple floor plans, fully furnished.
The two other buildings contain a mix of unfurnished apartments of various sizes, which are available to staff.
The well-thought-out mix of studios and apartments offers a wide range of around 100 units. Almost all of them have private outdoor areas, which enhances the quality of life for residents.
Shaping the appearance at the southern edge of the site.
A resource-efficient construction method was pursued through the use of timber, simple construction methods, and the targeted, efficient use of materials. The buildings were arranged in such a way that even those located to the north of the site enjoy unobstructed, attractive views of the lake.
